Finding Your Purpose

We are all looking for a certain understanding about our lives, to understand why we are here, what our purpose is, and most of all, to live the best life we can. In our search, we come across many answers, but few that speak to us. The answer we are looking for is one that will connect to us, and have a certain meaning to us personally. It seems hard to come by, this answer that explains everything to us. Why do we look? Because we are human and we wish for our life to have meaning and to connect to something that is real.

There are many people out there who believe they have found the answers, who have finished seeking and are happy with their results. But for those of us who are still looking, searching for the meaning behind our lives, I ask you to look within first. Far too often we search outside of ourselves for the answers. We look for someone else to guide us or show us the way. We think that if someone else has figured it out and it worked for them, then perhaps it can work for us. But your path is unique and not aligned with everyone else's. Your destiny lies not in someone else's shoes, but in your own.

What you are meant for, your calling, your truth, lies within you. Perhaps what you will find inside of yourself will surprise you, but it will fit and feel right to you; that is how you know you are doing the right thing. If we are trying to fit into life, then we are not living our life as we should be. If we are still seeking, then we have not found ourselves. If we feel lost and alone, then we have not sought out who we really are and where we belong in this life. The road to personal awareness is not hard, but it is necessary to have that goal. One must have the attitude that knowing oneself on a deeper level is not only important, but worthy of one's time. Understanding yourself better is the first step to attaining your purpose in life. It is the beginning of understanding not only where you belong, but what you should be doing with your life. It is what helps you get into the life you are meant to be living.

By looking within, you access your own information, not an idea from somewhere else, but what you already know. You, yourself, already know and understand what you are meant for. Sometimes, we tend to not only ignore ourselves, but put our own desires second in our life. And then we wonder why we are not happy, fulfilled, or content. Look within and ask yourself how you are doing, what do you want, and what is most important to you.

Do not let yourself get distracted by your own previous ideas, but seek the truth, your truth. Far too often in life we let ourselves down by not paying attention to what we crave, seek, desire, or want. By looking inward first and asking yourself with an open heart and mind what it is you truly desire in this life, you may just find the answer. You may find you are on the right path, or that what you really want is in another direction. But only by listening to who you are, what you want, and what feels right, will you find meaning and the truth of what your life means.
